# Glossary

Basic ISA Terminal terms in plain language.

## Connection

Links the terminal to an exchange account through API credentials. A bot cannot trade without an enabled connection.

## API Key

The public part of exchange credentials, entered together with the secret part, Secret.

## Secret

The secret part of an API key. Do not share it or expose it in screenshots.

## Spot

The market for buying and selling coins directly.

## Futures

Contract trading, often with leverage. Risk is higher than on Spot.

## One-Way

One position per pair on the exchange: either long or short.

## Hedge Mode

Exchange mode accounting for long and short separately on one pair.

## Occupied position

A pair or side reserved by an existing bot on the connection. Stopped bots also occupy it.

## Ticker

A trading pair such as BTCUSDT or ETHUSDT.

## Timeframe

The duration of one chart candle: 1m is one minute, 5m five minutes and 1h one hour.

## Strategy

Trading rules for entries, exits, grids, take-profits, stops and averaging.

## Bot

A strategy configured to trade one pair through a selected connection.

## Grid

A system of orders at different price levels.

## Averaging

Adding to a position when price moves against the initial entry. It can improve the average entry price but increases exposure and risk.

## Martingale

Increasing subsequent purchase or trade sizes according to strategy rules. Higher multipliers increase volume and risk faster.

## Take-profit

A price level or condition at which a bot realizes profit.

## PTP — partial take-profit

A bot closes part of a position and continues managing the remainder.

## GRID Partial

A grid strategy that closes averaging entries individually, then closes the remaining position.

## Stop-loss

A loss limit. When the stop condition is met, the position closes according to strategy rules.

## Order

An exchange instruction to buy, sell, close a position, etc.

## Position

The currently open volume on a trading pair.

## Log

A record of a terminal event: bot action, error, exchange response, start or stop.

## Tester

Tests a strategy on historical candles with configured fees. It does not start live trading.

## Demo mode

Testing without real money, using separate demo credentials.

## VPS

A remote Windows server where the terminal can run around the clock.

## Long and short

Long expects a price rise. Short expects a price fall.

## Candle

Shows a period's opening, closing, highest and lowest prices.

## Initial lot

The bot's first purchase or position size. Settings show its value and units.

## Leverage

Allows a position larger than your own funds. It increases potential gains and losses.

## Margin

Funds the exchange holds to secure a futures position. Free margin remains available for new orders.

## Drawdown

A decline in capital from a previous peak, used to assess losses during trading or testing.

## Liquidation

Forced position closure by the exchange when collateral becomes insufficient.

## Funding

A periodic payment between futures traders that may be credited to or deducted from your account.

## Liquidity

Ability to buy or sell the required size without substantially moving the price. Low liquidity can cause large execution-price differences.

## Spread

The gap between the nearest buy and sell prices.

## Trend and range

A trend is a sustained upward or downward price movement. A range, or flat market, moves within boundaries without a lasting direction.
