# Position accounting and exchange checks

ISA Terminal shows each bot's trades, position size, average price, fees and result. It checks that the exchange position matches the bot's records.

Manage a bot's position through ISA Terminal. Manual exchange trades or other programs trading the same position may stop the bot.

## One bot per exchange position

Keep a bot's position separate from other bots' trading. See [Position modes](/en/isa-terminal/birzhi-i-podklyucheniya/one-way-rezhim.md) for pair and direction allocation.

## Checks before starting

During creation and configuration, the terminal checks that the required pair or side is free. For example, a long bot cannot enable short if another bot on the connection already occupies it.

A bot may not start if another existing bot (even stopped) occupies the pair or side, an unrelated futures position is open, manual or other-program orders exist, or the exchange has not responded and the position cannot be checked.

These rules also apply to bulk start and autostart. Read the rejection reason in the terminal message and bot logs. A bot does not automatically adopt a manually opened futures position.

## Volume checks

The terminal periodically checks the exchange position. For futures, it compares the bot's direction and size. In Hedge Mode, another bot's opposite-side position is treated separately.

On Spot, your personal coins beyond those bought by the bot do not become part of its position. If the balance contains fewer coins than the bot should have, the terminal investigates the mismatch.

Updates may be slightly delayed. If exchange and terminal positions differ, read bot messages and logs.

## If a mismatch is found

The terminal checks again. If the difference was due to an update delay and the data now matches, the bot continues. A confirmed mismatch stops the bot, cancels its orders and reports the reason. Incomplete exchange responses may also prevent starting until verification finishes.

Check the exchange position and active orders. If the cause is unclear, keep the logs and send a [bug report](/en/isa-terminal/baza-znanii/kak-otpravit-bag-report.md).

## If you close a position manually on the exchange

Once closure is confirmed, the terminal removes the bot's open position, cancels its orders and stops it. Detection can take time. The result may not appear as a regular bot trade; check execution price, fees and final result on the exchange.

On Spot, a small balance may remain that cannot be sold because it is below the exchange's minimum order size.

Before restarting:

1. Confirm the position is closed on the exchange.
2. Check that the bot's orders are cancelled.
3. Read the stop message and recent logs.
4. Start the bot. If verification has not finished, wait for the exchange response and try later.

## Partial manual changes

Manually increasing or reducing a futures position may cause a size mismatch and stop the bot or prevent starting. On Spot, selling coins managed by the bot can cause the same problem.

Manually purchased volume is not automatically added to the bot's position. Do not try to fix mismatches with random buys or sells. Save logs and send a [bug report](/en/isa-terminal/baza-znanii/kak-otpravit-bag-report.md) if you do not understand the stop reason.

## Restart with a retained position

* If the exchange position matches the terminal records, the bot resumes managing it.
* If fully closed, the bot can begin a new trade after verification.
* If volume changed or exchange data is unavailable, starting is rejected with a reason.
