# Bybit API keys

API keys let ISA Terminal connect to your Bybit account, read its balance and send trading commands.

## What to create

Create an **API Key** (public key) and **Secret** (secret key) on Bybit. The Secret is shown only when the key is created. Save it immediately and do not share it.

## Permissions

The terminal normally needs permission to read account data and balances, and to trade. Withdrawal permission is not required.

## Live and demo mode

For live trading, use keys from your regular Bybit account. For demo, create separate keys in Bybit's demo section. Live keys will not work for demo connections, and demo keys will not work for live connections.

See [Demo keys](/en/isa-terminal/birzhi-i-podklyucheniya/demo-klyuchi.md).

## Spot and Futures

Select **Bybit Spot** or **Bybit Futures USDT** in ISA Terminal. The key must match the market and account you use. An incorrect mode or missing permissions causes connection errors.

## Add the keys to ISA Terminal

Follow [Connecting an exchange](/en/isa-terminal/birzhi-i-podklyucheniya/kak-sozdat-podklyuchenie-k-birzhe.md).

If the keys are rejected, look up the terminal's message in [Common API errors](/en/isa-terminal/birzhi-i-podklyucheniya/chastye-oshibki-api.md).
