# Starting and stopping

This guide covers starting and safely stopping a bot, including when it has an open position. For the creation form, see [Creating a bot](/en/isa-terminal/kak-sozdat-i-zapustit-torgovogo-bota/kak-sozdat-bota.md).

## Before starting

Check the connection and bot parameters using the [launch checklist](/en/isa-terminal/pervyi-zapusk-ot-nulya-do-bota/bezopasnyi-pervyi-zapusk.md).

## Start one bot

1. Open **Bots → My bots**.
2. Find the bot and enable its control switch.
3. Check its status and logs.

If start is rejected, read the message and see [Common ISA errors](/en/isa-terminal/chastye-oshibki-isa.md). After a successful start, the strategy places an order when its entry conditions are met. No immediate order does not necessarily mean an error.

## Start several bots

**Start all inactive bots** starts stopped bots without restarting active ones. Before using it, check every bot for [allocation conflicts](/en/isa-terminal/birzhi-i-podklyucheniya/one-way-rezhim.md), sufficient balance for entries and all possible averaging steps, suitability for the current market and combined deposit exposure.

Do not use bulk start for your first launch.

## Stop one bot

1. Open **Bots → My bots**.
2. Open the bot viewer and check its position and active orders.
3. Disable its control switch.
4. If it has a position, choose whether to close it or leave it open.

When stopping, ISA Terminal prevents the bot from creating new orders and attempts to cancel active orders known to that bot. The next action depends on your choice:

| Choice | Result |
| ----------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Close position** | Attempts to cancel active orders and close the bot's position at market. The execution price may differ, especially during fast moves or low liquidity. |
| **Leave position open** | Attempts to cancel active orders and stops the bot. The position remains on the exchange without automatic management and may have no take-profit or stop-loss orders. |
| **Cancel the dialog** | The bot keeps running; stopping is cancelled. |

After stopping, check the final bot status, active orders and position size on the exchange, and the latest logs.

A “stopped” status alone does not prove the exchange accepted all cancellations and closed the position. Treat the operation as unfinished until the exchange shows a zero position and no active orders.

## If you leave a position open

A stopped bot does not manage it or place new averaging, take-profit or stop-loss orders. Before continuing, check the [restart conditions for a retained position](/en/isa-terminal/baza-znanii/kak-rabotaet-terminal-isa-i-ego-vzaimodeistvie-s-birzhei.md).

## Close a position without stopping the bot

The viewer's **Close position** command attempts to cancel active orders and close at market, but does not stop the bot. To end trading, verify the close and stop the bot separately.

## Stop all bots

**Stop all active bots** applies one choice to all running bots: close positions or leave them open.

Each bot is handled separately and some actions may fail. After a bulk command, check the status, positions, orders and logs of every bot, not only the general notification.

Check liquidity before bulk closing: several market orders may be sent sequentially.

## If you close a position manually on the exchange

Follow the [manual close procedure](/en/isa-terminal/baza-znanii/kak-rabotaet-terminal-isa-i-ego-vzaimodeistvie-s-birzhei.md) before restarting.

## Deleting is not a way to pause

Use Stop to pause. Deleting removes bot settings and history; see [Managing bots](/en/isa-terminal/kak-sozdat-i-zapustit-torgovogo-bota/upravlenie-botami.md) for conditions.

## Running, but no orders

The bot may be waiting for entry conditions. See [Common ISA errors](/en/isa-terminal/chastye-oshibki-isa.md) if unsure.
