# Presets

A preset is a saved set of strategy settings: for example grid step, initial lot, take-profit, stop-loss and other GRID or KACHAN parameters you do not want to enter repeatedly.

Think of a preset as a settings template. A bot combines strategy settings with a connection, coin, timeframe and name.

## What a preset stores

| Stored | Not stored |
| ---------------------------- | ------------------------------ |
| Preset name | Exchange connection |
| Strategy: GRID, KACHAN, etc. | Ticker: BTCUSDT, ETHUSDT, etc. |
| Market type: Spot or Futures | Timeframe |
| All strategy parameters | Bot name |

One preset stores one strategy's settings for one market. Choose a preset for the bot's strategy and market, then check directions, size and risk. A preset fills in a form; [creating and starting a bot](/en/isa-terminal/kak-sozdat-i-zapustit-torgovogo-bota.md) are separate actions.

## Why use presets

Avoid starting from scratch, keep several configurations such as cautious and aggressive GRID, transfer settings to another computer through export/import, or quickly load tested parameters when creating or editing a bot.

## Where to find them

### Tools menu

Open **Tools → Preset manager**. The general manager lets you browse, delete, export and import presets. There is no **Apply** button here; it appears only when the manager is opened from a specific bot's settings.

### Bot settings

When creating a bot, click **Settings** in the form. For an existing bot, click its gear icon in **My bots**. At the bottom, open the **Presets** dropdown:

* **Save as preset** stores the current parameters.
* **Preset manager** opens the list with an option to apply a preset to this bot.

## Create a preset

1. Open strategy settings from the creation form or an existing bot's gear icon.
2. Set initial lot, grid step, take-profit, stop-loss, number of averaging steps and other strategy parameters.
3. Select **Presets → Save as preset**.
4. Enter a name, such as **Grid BTC cautious**, and confirm.
5. Wait for the success notification.

The name must be unique within the strategy. You may have **base** for GRID and **base** for KACHAN, but not two **base** presets for GRID. Presets have a Spot/Futures market type. Correct any invalid highlighted fields before saving.

## Apply a preset to a bot

1. Open the bot's settings during creation or editing.
2. Select **Presets → Preset manager**.
3. Find the preset, using search if needed.
4. Click **Apply**. The form's strategy parameters are replaced with the preset values.
5. Check the success notification.

The connection, coin, timeframe and bot name do not change.

## What happens after applying

| Situation | Result |
| ------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Editing with autosave enabled | Settings save immediately |
| Editing with autosave disabled | Click **Save** manually |
| Creating a bot | Parameters fill the settings window; close it and create the bot afterwards |

Review size, grid, take-profit, stop-loss and overall risk again.

## Preset manager actions

| Action | How |
| ------ | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| Search | Search bar at the top, by name or strategy |
| View | Eye icon; saved parameters open on the right |
| Apply | **Apply**, available only when opened from bot settings |
| Delete | Trash icon, with confirmation |
| Export | Tick presets and click **Export** |
| Import | Choose a **.yaml** or **.yml** file |

## Export and import

Use these to transfer presets or back up your settings.

### Export

Open **Tools → Preset manager**, tick the presets and click **Export**. The folder containing **presets.yml** opens. Copy it to a USB drive or another computer. If nothing is selected, the terminal exports all presets.

### Import

Open **Preset manager**, click the import file button and select **presets.yml** or another preset **.yaml/.yml** file. Presets are added while existing ones are kept.

Some entries may import even if others fail. Check the list and notifications afterwards. A name already used for the same strategy may prevent that entry from importing; the terminal reports the error.

## Use presets safely

After applying, verify that all values suit the strategy and market. Use the [safe launch checklist](/en/isa-terminal/pervyi-zapusk-ot-nulya-do-bota/bezopasnyi-pervyi-zapusk.md) before trading.

## Common questions

**How does a preset differ from a bot?** A bot has a connection, coin, strategy and trading settings and can be started. A preset contains only strategy parameters, without a connection, coin, timeframe or bot name.

**Can I apply GRID settings to KACHAN?** No. Presets work only with the strategy for which they were created.

**Why is Apply missing in the general manager?** Open it for a specific bot through **Bot settings → Presets → Preset manager**.

**Do presets survive reinstallation?** They are stored on your computer and remain if the program settings folder is kept. Export them before reinstalling or moving to another computer.

**Can names repeat?** Only across different strategies: **base** for GRID and **base** for KACHAN are allowed; a second **base** for GRID is not.

**Can a Spot preset be used for Futures?** The interface may allow applying the same strategy's preset to another market type. Unavailable parameters may not transfer, leaving some current bot values in the form. Keep separate Spot and Futures presets and always check direction, size, grid, take-profit, stop-loss and other parameters afterwards.

**Does a preset change the connection or coin?** No. Choose connection, ticker, timeframe and bot name separately.

## Quick reference

* Save: **Bot settings → Presets → Save as preset → name → confirm**.
* Apply: **Bot settings → Presets → Preset manager → Apply → Save**, if needed.
* Transfer: **Preset manager → select → Export → copy file → Import on the other computer**.
